Hi everyone,
My plus size videos on Youtube get so many views (thank you!) and more often than not I get many questions regarding where I buy my clothes, so what better way to tell you than to post the stores below and include a little information regarding their customer service, price, quality and sizing etc.
Firstly I will say that here in Ireland Plus Size clothing is usually online and not in store so I would advise being willing to shop online other wise you're going to either have to travel quite far or you're going to have slim pickings locally.
1. Marks and Spencer
Now I know what you're thinking..''M&S is for older women''. Not anymore! I swear I was so against shopping in Marks and Spencer as my mum shops there so of course I thought nothing would suit me but recently I've found it's the first shop I head to in my local shopping center. Especially since I'm trying to dress a bit more maturely and appropriate for an office setting. The clothing is made of such great fabrics, even the jeans they sell are so well made and really fit the curvier body. If you're like me and have a pear shaped body where your bottom half is a few sizes bigger than the top well then you will love the m&s jeans. They are very reasonable too ranging from €30-€70. They always seem to have 20% off sales if you sign up for the emails too so get on that mailing list and you could snag a great pair of jeans for a discounted price. The office wear they have is also fantastic, I'm going to head in soon to purchase a suit for work and know it'll sit on the body the way it should.
I like with Marks & Spencer that you can head both in store and also online, meaning sometimes you can see a product in person and realise it's not for you or even sometimes they'll be having a sale online and not in store so I'll try it on instore then purchase it online..how cheeky ;)
As for their customer service - the staff in the store close to me are absolutely lovely, they are always up for a chat (sure so am I!) and are very accommodating when any issue arises. I have also dealt with their customer service phone team which operates until 7pm in the evening which is so handy and they are also lovely. I can only highly recommend M&S, it can be on the more pricey side of things but worth every penny.
2. Boohoo +
I'm sure we've all seen the advertisements that boohoo have on tv. Those gorgeous models swish around in long flowing dresses in exotic locations while you sit on your sofa thinking ''hopefully the rain stops''. Of course here in Ireland we don't have the luxury to rock those frocks on a daily basis but one can dream. My first interaction with boohoo was when I needed some clothes for a night out, I heard from friends that it was great for formal wear but being plus size you never know if they are accomidating. There can be a catch with many brands you see. They will have amazing clothes to a size 14 or 16 but once you hit 18 you just get boring shapeless dresses.
To my surprise Boohoo+ is actually fantastic for us plus size girls! I find that it is one of the most fashion forward online stores and of course their free returns policy in Ireland mean's that you can risk purchasing that jumpsuit and return it at ease. My personal favorites from the range are the ''going out'' or night time clothes as they are very sexy and also within a price range that is affordable for clothes you may only wear a couple of times. You can check out some Boohoo+ clothes in my recent plus size video here
The customer care team for Boohoo are based 24/7 on twitter and I found that extremely helpful when you find yourself having a fashion emergency at 3am (don't judge me it happens the best of us!) The free returns as I stated above is really handy too and I've received my products within 2-4 working days typically.
3. New Look Curve
Last summer I had an actual addiction to New Look clothing. I recorded a video which is one of the most viewed over on Youtube, click here to watch. I was headed to Rome last summer so I found myself in desperate need for gorgeous dresses and light linen or cotton clothing for during the day. I love New Look for it's versitile Plus size range and also their acknowledgements that plus size clothing does not need to be boring. I am so tired of the bland black or cream dresses, New Look always has really beautiful playsuits or patterened clothing that you would also see slimmer people wearing.
I have found their clothes to be incredibly affordable and also long lasting, all of the clothing I purchased last year (it was a lot) is still all in great condition and is wore often, it washes well and also I find it is still on trend as I bought some very practical pieces. The New Look website does have some issues with my card though which means I need to ring to place an order but that's ok as I find the staff to be very helpful. The order will usually come by courier and arrives within 3-5 working days. New Look does not offer free Irish returns but thankfully I am always close to a New Look store so they will accept the items there which is so handy.
I would highly recommend checking out New Look Curve for any office wear or summer dresses as these seem to be the areas they excell in. The jewellery they stock is also fab for any size!
